UK government award recognises Marshall’s armed forces employment commitment

Marshall Aerospace has once again received a Silver Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) administered by the UK’s Ministry of Defence.

The award was presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Julie Spence OBE QPM, at a ceremony on Friday, February 24th.

Accepting the award on Marshall’s behalf, Neil McManus, Managing Director of Marshall Aerospace, said: “We are honoured to reaffirm and extend Marshall’s long-held commitment to employing and supporting members of the Armed Forces community. We recognise the value serving personnel, veterans, and military families contribute to our business and our country.”

“I am delighted to witness Marshall receiving their second Silver Revalidation Award. Marshall has been a Silver Award holder from the inception of the scheme, and this commendation is a testament to their long-term commitment to our Armed Forces,” said Kristina Carrington, Regional Employer Engagement Director for the East Anglia Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.

Marshall has held the ERS Silver Award since the scheme first came into effect in 2014. To qualify for the Silver Award, employers are required to demonstrate a particularly high standard of support for service personnel and members of the armed forces community. In addition to ensuring that service personnel or members of the armed forces community are not disadvantaged as part of the recruiting and selection process, Silver Award winners must promote their positive policies towards defence people externally and internally, while also demonstrating support for mobilisations (or having a mobilisations framework in place).

Silver Award winners must also be signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant, a voluntary pledge entered by organisations to offer fair treatment to those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families. Marshall has been a signatory since the covenant was first introduced in 2013.
